A great way to recollect how little your baby once was is with a baby handprint kit. Baby handprint kits come in numerous diverse kinds. Saving baby hand prints is a practice that has gone on for years. Baby handprints can be set onto nearly anything with some of the more favored being ceramic tiles, clay, and paper. Baby handprint kits are a superb shower gift for the mum to be. Ceramic tiles are one great place to put your baby’s handprints.

To do that you will need a four inch or a 6 in. tile, a brush, a ceramic under glaze in a dark color, a container of clear glaze, and a wet sponge. Wipes or paper towels to scrub off baby’s hands should also be kept handy. You should not have any problem finding all the essential materials at your local craft store. Before starting the project ensure that both the tile and baby’s hands are clean and dry. Paint baby’s hand using the dark under glaze being certain to keep the fingers separated. When the hand is covered in paint place is on the ceramic tile carefully so that you get an impression of the entire hand. You may add other touches like designs and your baby’s name and date of birth. Allow the tile to dry completely and them apply a coat of clear glaze.

Plaster is one more excellent material to use when making baby handprints. The first step will be to put some plaster into a little container. Wipe a little oil on baby’s hand and then compress it gently in the plaster. To get a total print you will have to apply mild pressure to each part of the hand. Baby’s hand will need to be cleaned after you remove it from the plaster. Use a knife or bamboo skewer to etch baby’s name and date of birth in the plaster before it is completely dry. If you are particularly inventive you can put other designs in the plaster as well.
