Aromatherapy uses the medicinal qualities of plants through essential oils. Essential oils are derived from the leaves, roots, flowers, wood and peel of plants. The benefits of aromatherapy and essential oils are so well known that in many countries some essential oils are regulated just like pharmaceutical medications. Essential oils are even prescribed by physicians. So although essential oils are more well known for their pleasant aromas they also have qualities such as antibacterial,antiviral, antiseptic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, anti-neuralgic, anti depressant and antioxidant.
